Plakias is a little gem on the south coast of Crete, Greece. This old fishermen town has a certain magic over it that cannot be explained, only felt. Away from the mass tourism in the north and surrounded by breathtaking, unspoiled landscapes Plakias is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday. The famous Cretan hospitality is well known and you will feel home straight away.
I have been coming here for 9 years now and I thought it was time to share this amazing place with everyone.
Plakias is more than just hotels and a beach, the immediate surroundings offer countless walks, breath taking views from the surrounding mountains, all sorts of water sports and authentic little mountain villages. From the old harbour there are daily boat trips to several gorgeous beaches and places like Loutro, where no road leads to.
On this website you will find information on the town, several hiking descriptions (including printable maps), what to see in the surroundings, what beaches you can go to and tips.
